Lake Monomonac: The Summer of '87
What you need
- A modern browser with WebGL2 — current Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge.
- On phones, the game plays in landscape: turn your phone sideways when the rotate screen appears. Phones get an automatic lighter-graphics preset.
- Play at play.lakemonomonac.com.
Controls
- Keyboard — use WASD or the arrow keys to move or drive. Shift runs on foot, M opens the map, R opens the radio, C changes the camera, and Esc opens the pause menu.
- Phone — use the on-screen movement and throttle controls. Approach an activity's marked circle slowly to begin.
- Gamepad — supported, with prompts in the game.
- Changing boats — walk into an owned boat's berth ring at the home docks to take it out.
Settings are available from the title screen and pause menu, including sound, graphics, and camera options.
If something goes wrong
- Blank or stuck screen — if the game can't start, it shows a red error panel with details after a few seconds. Either way, reload the page first; that fixes most one-off hiccups.
- No sound — browsers keep audio muted until you interact. Tap or press any key once and the lake comes up.
- Choppy on an older device — try a lower graphics preset in Settings, close other tabs, and make sure your browser is up to date.
- Old browser — if your browser has no WebGL2 (or is very dated), the game will tell you rather than run badly. Updating the browser is usually the fix.
- Fullscreen on iPhone — Use Share ▸ Add to Home Screen; the Home Screen game launches edge-to-edge with no browser bars.
Versions and saves
The game updates automatically: reloading the page always gets you the latest build (a hard refresh — hold Shift while reloading — forces it). Your career is saved in your browser's local storage and stays on your device. Story and Sandbox have separate careers; Arcade keeps its own records. Saves are not synced between devices or browsers. Clearing the browser's site data erases them.
